Expert says Perinçek's case might be of pivotal significance for Armenian Genocide
recognition and condemnation

YEREVAN, 26 DECEMBER, ARMENPRESS. The sentencing by the European Court of Human Rights of Turkish nationalist Doğu Perinçek may be of pivotal significance for recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide. This is what international law expert Vladimir Vardanyan said during a press conference. “The verdict of Doğu Perinçek favoring Armenia may be of pivotal significance for international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide,” Vardanyan said, as “ArmenPress” reports.

Touching upon the observation that George Clooney’s wife, Amal Ramzi Alamuddin will also be defending Armenia’s interests in the case against Doğu Perinçek, Vardanyan emphasized that he wouldn’t like to underestimate or overestimate that. “After all, let’s not forget that we’re not dealing with a Hollywood blockbuster, but a serious judicial process, and in this case, it doesn’t matter who is defending interests, but what interests are being defended and to what extent that is justified,” Vardanyan mentioned, voicing hope that Amal Ramzi Alamuddin will be able to become a part of the team that has been defending Armenia’s interests to this point.
