Valeri Mezhlumyan says criticism against Teghut Mine exploitation is groundless
YEREVAN, 20 DECEMBER, ARMENPRESS. General Director of Teghut CJSC Valeri Mezhlumyan considers exploitation of the Teghut Mine a serious step for Armenia’s economic advancement. During a press conference at Teghut Mine, Valeri Mezhlumyan mentioned that exploitation of the mine will be of important significance for the country’s economic development and advancement. “True, we are very often criticized for exploiting this mine pit, but we have to understand that there is a serious opportunity for development, meaning the people who very often criticize us don’t even have an idea of heavy industry and aren’t more concerned about environmental protection than we are. But if we listen to them, we have to leave everything the way it is, just like my hometown Tsakhkashat where people live like the people used to live 1,000 years ago. But we have the opportunity to grow. Why shouldn’t we take advantage of that opportunity?” Mezhlumyan mentioned, as “ArmenPress” reports.
He emphasized that people very often talk about the fact that bees will leave the territory after the opening of Teghut Mine. “They say they could have started producing honey if we hadn’t opened the mine pit. But who stood in their way 5 years ago or 25 years ago? There are many people who criticize us, but nobody thinks of doing something to make progress,” Mezhlumyan said.
