Armenia will strive to improve position on Transparency International’s Corruption
Perceptions Index

YEREVAN, 9 DECEMBER, ARMENPRESS. Armenia will strive to cross the 50th point on Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index in the years to come. Currently, Armenia’s indicator is 37. As “ArmenPress” reports, this is what Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Justice Suren Krmoyan mentioned during a December 9 press conference. Today is International Anti-Corruption Day. According to the Deputy Minister, over the past fifteen years, Armenia has implemented two anti-corruption strategies and has now placed a new strategy into circulation, and one of the most important approaches of that strategy is to increase public confidence and social engagement in the fight against corruption.

“The previous strategies were larger in volume, but in this strategy, the emphasis will be placed on the class of faithful public servants and the formation of an efficient state system since corruption risks more often emerge on the line of contact between citizens and public servants. One of the other most important approaches is that the new strategy will be hinged on public confidence,” Krmoyan said, adding that based on previous observations, Armenian society is quite tolerant towards corruption.
