Government ready to discuss transition to 100 percent proportional electoral system

Government ready to discuss transition to 100 percent proportional electoral system

YEREVAN, 26 NOVEMBER, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan is certain that the government will soon fulfill all the promises that it has made. During a press conference preceding the session of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armenia’s Prime Minister emphasized that there hasn’t been a point or proposal that the government hasn’t agreed on or hasn’t implemented. “We’re negotiating with the non-governmental forces, and I’m certain that we will soon fulfill our promises. We have agreed on and have solved all the issues. There may also be proposals that we might not agree on and might not find appropriate to implement,” the Prime Minister mentioned, according to “ArmenPress”.

Referring to the observation that the Trio demands that the government discuss the issue of making the transition to the 100 percent proportional electoral system first, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government is ready to discuss that issue. “They even proposed that we start from the tenth point, and we agreed with that as well. We’re constructive and want to work with the opposition. Our goal is to try to make the right decisions together. If they don’t want to participate or discuss, I think, in this case, there will be nothing for us to do,” Abrahamyan said in closing.
