Mother See hosts high-level reception for mass media representatives of CIS and Black Sea countries

Mother See hosts high-level reception for mass media representatives of CIS and Black Sea
countries

YEREVAN, 24 NOVEMBER, ARMENPRESS. The mass media is not only the one spreading the truth, but also the one that carries out the important mission of contributing to the establishment and maintenance of peace in the world. This is what Head of the Conceptual Issues Office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Father, Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan said during a reception hosted for the general directors of national news agencies of the CIS and Black Sea countries.

The heads of national news agencies of Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Cyprus, Romania, Bulgaria and Albania have arrived in Armenia to participate in the 7th session of the General Assembly of the Black Sea Association of National News Agencies. The editor of the international news department of Turkey’s Anadolu Agency will also be in Yerevan on November 25. Armenia’s Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan will be attending the opening ceremony of the Assembly. The 19th session of the Council of the Heads of State Presses of CIS countries comprised of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan will also be held on November 25.

Hosting the general directors and editors of the national news agencies of Russia, Georgia, Cyprus, Romania, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria and Albania at the Vatche and Tamar Manoukian Matenadaran of Etchmiadzin, His Holiness welcomed the guests’ visit to the spiritual center of all Armenians and conveyed the greetings and blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. His Holiness Bagrat attached importance to such forums that provide the opportunity to not only expand the cooperation between news agencies, but also advocate the spread of peace around the world in difficult times. “The Holy Etchmiadzin plays an important role in not only the Armenians living in Armenia, but also the Armenians living abroad. This venue is the symbol of not only faith, but also belonging. That’s why it’s a great honor for me to host you here. I invite you to a journey during which you will be able to hear the “voice” of history and know the identity of our nation,” His Holiness Bagrat said.

Addressing the gathered, the high-ranking clergyman stressed the important role that the mass media plays in making a change in the world and making it a better place to live. “You represent different news agencies of different countries and have come here to share your thoughts, feelings, combine forces and think of creating a better world. I’m not the one to tell you what your role is in this world, but my observations about the mass media have made me express the thought that the mission is deeply spiritual. When we read the Bible, we read about apostles whose mission is to transmit the word of God. In some sense, they played and play the role of the mass media,” His Holiness Bagrat emphasized, adding that he believes in the idea that spreading the truth is the most important mission of the mass media.

“It is no secret that we are living in a very troubling world, and you have the potential to change the world and make it a better place. Each of you represents a country that undergoes trials and tribulations, and Armenia has been the symbol for overcoming such difficulties. The most desired phenomenon for which we struggle, pray and think about is world peace. I strongly believe that that is your second mission. Your cooperation will guarantee world peace,” Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan said in closing, expressing gratitude to “ArmenPress” news agency for organizing the meeting.

The guests, with the accompaniment of Director of “ArmenPress” News Agency Aram Ananyan, visited the Mother Temple, were introduced to the history of the Mother Temple and had the opportunity to view the samples of the museum of the Mother Temple of Etchmiadzin. On the morning of November 24, the guests paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide at Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial and continued their day by visiting the Sardarapat Memorial Complex and the Museum of Ethnography.
