YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS: On November 19 the next sitting of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia moderated by Artak Zakaryan was held. The Department for Mass Media and Public Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia informed Armenpress that before passing to the debate of the agenda draft laws the Committee made a decision on November 24, at 12:00 hold parliamentary hearings on the theme “On the Treaty of May 29, 2014 on the Accession of the Republic of Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Union” jointly with the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Economic Affairs at the National Assembly Session Hall.

Then the deputies debated the package of bills “On Condemning the Genocide of the Pontic Greeks, Assyrians, Yezids and Other Nations in the Ottoman Empire” and “On Amending the Armenia’s Law on Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia” authored by the deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Zaruhi Postanjyan. The author proposes to establish December 9 in the Armenia’s law “On Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia” as a memorial day of the victims of the genocide of the Pontic Greeks, Assyrians, Yezids and other nations in the Ottoman Empire, as well as condemn the genocide of the abovementioned nations.

The members of the Committee expressed viewpoints on the package under debate.
