Balu's Armenian St. Illuminator Church to be restored
10:28, 11 November 2014YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS. The ancient Armenian Church St Illuminator in Turkey’s Balu province will be restored. As reports “Armenpress” citing Agos periodical, Balu’s municipality and the chief department for foundations have already begun the restoration activities.
There have been 5 thousand 250 Armenians living in Balu with total population of 9 thousand 850 in 1914. The five churches and four schools of the province were gradually turned into ruins. In 1970s the ancient Armenian Church St Illuminator has become a target of the adventurous treasure hunters.
