YEREVAN, OCTOBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Seeking to turn Armenia into a regional jewelry centre, the Armenian Jewellers Association (AJA) holds an international conference in Yerevan with participation of the heads of the major jewelry organizations. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan also attended the conference, which was held in the newly-opened Meridian expo centre. As reports “Armenpress”, the Prime Minister hailed the organization of such a conference and reminded that jewelry has been recognized as a priority branch of economy in the Republic of Armenia.

The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Karen Chshmarityan highlighted the fact that the Armenians are very famous for jewelry and diamond production all over the world. “The Armenian jewelers are known in all the international arenas. We are hopeful to witness the launch of new programs and signing of agreements at the course of the conference. The heads of a number of international professional structures are present here, which proves their confidence towards Armenia. Armenia conducts the policy of open doors for foreign investments,” Chshmarityan underscored.

The Chairman of the Armenian Jewellers Association (AJA) Gagik Gevorgyan told the participants of the conference that the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) will hold its consecutive congress here in Armenia in 2016. Among other things, the Chairman of the Armenian Jewellers Association (AJA) Gagik Gevorgyan noted: “Today we managed to reach an agreement on holding the annual congress of the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) in Yerevan. I am confident that in 2016, when the congress will be held, an exclamation mark will follow this sentence - Armenia – jewelry centre! Armenia has all the necessary conditions to become one.”
