Germany expects Paris meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents to be productive

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, ARMENPRESS: Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier is hopeful that the upcoming trilateral meeting of the presidents of Armenia, France and Azerbaijan due in Paris will not be ineffective and the sides will register a progress in the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict regulation, Armenpress reports.

 At a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan, Frank-Walter Steinmeier  emphasized the importance of the circumstance that the sides have expressed readiness to meet and discuss the issues.

“Armenia is ready to regulate the issue on the basis of the proposals that have been supposed at a level of the co-chairs through the latest 5 statements. It is also the viewpoint of the international community, because the co-chairs have an international mandate. We have not heard from the Azerbaijani side that there is willingness in the conflict settlement. Therefore, the ball is in the Azerbaijan’s field,” Edward Nalbandyan underlined.

During his visit to Yerevan, the German official visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex and paid tribute to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.
