Armenia's Govt. suggests declaring December 9 commemoration day of all genocides'
victims

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 24, ARMENPRESS. The Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Zaruhi Postanjyan from the “Heritage” fraction introduced the package of Law of the Republic of Armenia on “Condemnation of Genocide against the Pontic Greeks, Assyrians, Yazidis and other Nations in the Ottoman Empire” and Law on “Holidays and Commemoration Days of the Republic of Armenia”.

As reports “Armenpress”, at the session of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Sergey Manasaryan stated that the Government finds that it’s more expedient to declare December 9 the commemoration day of all the genocides’ victims instead of the introduced suggestion.

Previously it was reported the issue is included in the agenda of the October 23 session of the Government. “The Government of the Republic of Armenia considers it expedient to make December 9 as the all genocides’ victims’ commemoration day instead of the presented proposal, taking into account the fact that the United Nations adopted the “Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide” on December 9 1948”, - says the conclusion of the Executive on the package.
