Chess introduced in many countries' school programs following Armenia's example: FIDE
President

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 17, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s example has a positive impact on the development of junior chess. The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov stated this at the course of the international conference titled “Chess in Schools” held in Yerevan on October 16-18. Also, the FIDE President expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Chess Federation of the Republic of Armenia for the careful attitude towards chess and implementation of new ideas.

Among other things, the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov underscored: “Many countries follow the example of the Armenian leadership, which on the state level introduced chess as a subject for the public schools yet in 2011. Your program has been translated into a number of languages. I was shown a state program, when I visited Mexico a couple of months ago, and I was told that chess will be studied at schools as an obligatory subject following Armenia’s example. It’s due to your country that this program is spread in Paraguay, Mongolia, Thailand, and other countries of the world.”
