German Fund invited former deputy to Karabakh-related discussion, unaware of issue

BERLIN, SEPTEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS: A former deputy of Bundestag, member of the Green Party Viola fon Kramon was present at the discussion, organized by the German Taz-Panterstiftung Fund in Berlin, attended also by the media representatives from the Russian Federation, Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. Fon Kramon, unaware of the history of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the current situation, made “serious” remarks and presented ways of settlement of the problem, without having idea about the possible consequences. The member of the Green Party suggested handing over the liberated territories to Azerbaijan and thus putting end to the conflict. How many regions did she mean and why should they be returned, fon Kramon did not know and could not explain her position. She only repeated the Azerbaijani-Turkish ideology that the territories should be handed over.
In response to the statements of the former deputy, the Armenian media representatives presented the process of the negotiations and the situation and problems caused by Azerbaijan.
To the observation of the Armenpress journalist – what guarantees could be expected after the return of the territories, that the life of the population of those regions is not threatened – Viola fon Kramon just smiled and moved her head. To the remark that the Azerbaijani authorities make a hero of an Azerbaijani for axe-murdering a sleeping officer only for being an Armenian and that in Azerbaijan the hatred towards the Armenians is propagated and encouraged on the state level, the former deputy of Bundestag said that it is a painful issue, on which the societies should make a dialogue, “but only after handing the territories”.
