Center of Excellence for Prevention of Childhood Blindness opens in Yerevan
YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 22, ARMENPERSS: 10% of the infants annually born in Armenia are immature, and the blind children comprise majority among them. The Center of Excellence for the Prevention of Childhood Blindness officially opened September 22 in Yerevan, which will promote implementation of appropriate diagnosis and further treatment for infants’ blindness, Armenpress reports.
The center is located in the territory of the Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a pioneer in the region in the sphere of eye operations connected with blindness. Thanks to the continuous cooperation of Armenian surgeons and US doctors the center will ensure excellence of services for preventing and treating blindness in Armenia and in the region.
