Court prolongs Arthur Mirzoyan's detention term

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS: Moscow's Khamovnichesk Court has adopted a decision to prolong the detention term of Arthur Mirzoyan with 30 days, Armenpress reports citing the Turkish “Haberler.com”. The court has refused the interference of the defensive side to release Mirzoyan free on bail till adoption of the final verdict. According to the decision of the court, the accused will remain in custody till October 17.

During the previous court hearing Arthur Mirzoyan had admitted his guilt and offered to pay 500 thousand rubles and wait for the decision of the court on the condition of not leaving the country. Mirzoyan’s advocate Georgi Shatvoryan told the court that his defendant does not present danger to society; hence he can wait for the final decision in freedom.

On August 18, 43-year old Arthur Mirzoyan had shot at the state emblem of the Turkish Embassy in Russia. He was immediately arrested, but refused to speak of the incentives of his behavior. Nobody has suffered in consequence of Mirzoyan’s activity.

In an interview with Russian newspapers, an employee from “Dobry Les” organization headed by Mirzoyan had said that Mirzoyan’s ancestors, escaping the Armenian genocide, have moved to Eastern Armenia.
