Presence of priests in military units of encourages Armenian soldiers

YEREVAN, AUGUST 27, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian Apostolic Church stands by the Armenian Army and the clergymen services, construction of small sanctuaries and altars in military units, as well as the Armenian clergymen’s visits to the soldiers performing their duty for their motherland prove this. In one of military units, located in Karabakh’s southern direction, Deacon Nerses Khazaryan, who has been carrying out his spiritual service for about two months there, does not consider it as a work, but as a service. In conversation with “Armenpress”, Deacon Nerses noted: “Soldiers’ attitude towards clergymen’s presence is definitely positive, and in any conversation they become inspired and encouraged. We organize spiritual conversations, as well as visits to the churches. The soldiers take part in liturgies, get acquainted with sacraments. From time to time baptisms are held, 7 soldiers were baptized about a week ago. Now the soldiers, who haven’t baptized before, want to be baptized now.”
