Putin, Lukashenko, Nazarbayev and Poroshenko to adopt a joint document

Putin, Lukashenko, Nazarbayev and Poroshenko to adopt a joint document

MINSK, AUGUST 26, ARMENPRESS. The Minsk meeting has brought together Russian, Kazakh and Belarusian Presidents Vladimir Putin, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Alexander Lukashenko, as well as representatives of the European Commission and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, reports “Armenpress”, referring to ITAR-TASS.

The negotiations in Minsk are part of a Eurasian Customs Union (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) summit, which also includes the Ukrainian President and representatives of the European Commission.

Vladimir Putin said that he’s absolutely confident that the Ukrainian crisis “can’t be resolved by further escalation of the military scenario, without considering the best interests of the southeastern regions of the country, without a peace dialogue with their representatives.”

Russia's president stressed that Moscow is interested in not only maintaining its cooperation with Ukraine but even expanding it.

However, Putin expressed doubt that the two countries would be able to achieve this goal if Kiev’s Association Agreement with the European Union comes into force.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the leaders of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, who gathered for talks in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, wanted to resolve the Ukrainian crisis as soon as possible.

“I am sure that no one at this table wants to benefit from the current situation,” Lukashenko told at the meeting of the leaders of the Customs Union, the European Union and Ukraine. “There are no mediators, no lobbyists and no adventurers here today. Here are the people who are highly interested in settling the situation.”

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko suggested that a joint document should be adopted as a result of the talks between the Eurasian Customs Union, Ukraine and the EU representatives.

For his part, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev urged the Customs Union to provide joint humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
