Most of cars on "Upper Lars" checkpoint’s Russian side went back

YEREVAN, AUGUST 21, ARMENPRESS. Most of the cars on the Russian side of "Upper Lars" checkpoint went back, as it is unclear when the road will be opened. In a conversation with “Armenpress” this was stated by MFA Spokesman Tigran Balayan. “As we know, on the Georgian border there is a bus on the line transporting citizens. On the Russian side about 70 percent of the cars went back,” said Balayan, adding that he cannot say how many Armenian cars there are at the checkpoint.

In a conversation with “Armenpress”, the Chairman of the International Transporters Association of Armenia Herbert Hambardzumyan noted that lots of cars are stuck at "Upper Lars" checkpoint. Armenian, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and other countries’ trucks are standing in line, but there is no exact number of how many Armenian cars there are at this moment. “I was informed that the checkpoint will be opened in 10 days or two weeks, but let's wait and see what happens," said Hambardzumyan.
