Hakob Mkrtchyan – first Armenian champion in Youth Olympic Games

Armenian weightlifter Hakob Mkrtchyan (77 kg), showing a result of 319 kg, won in this weight category at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. As reports “Armenpress”, in the "snatch" lift the 17-year-old athlete from Gyumri showed a result of 142kg, and in the "clean and jerk" lift - 177kg.
Hakob Mkrtchyan beat his opponent, the athlete from India, who took the second place, and brought Armenia’s first gold medal from Nanjing.
Previously, Armenian shooter Hrachya Babayan won a silver medal at Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
