Armenia's Government to provide assistance of USD 100 thousand to Yazidi people of Iraq

YREVAN, AUGUST 21, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s Government will provide a humanitarian aid of USD 100 thousand to the Yazidi population in Iraq. As “Armenpress” reports, the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan stated this at the course of the session of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. In addition, he said that humanitarian assistance will be provided by UN agencies as the situation in Iraq does not allow to pass it personally. “The President of the Republic of Armenia instructed earlier to double the planned 50 thousand dollars,” Kocharyan said.

The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan instrcuted Ministry of Foreign Affairs and heads of diplomatic mission to double their efforts for following the issue appropriately in International area. The issue will remain in the centre of attention of official Yerevan’s and the Republic of Armenia will consistently support friendly Yazdi people, which appeared in an awkward situation.
