Overland route connecting Armenia and Russia again closed

YEREVAN, AUGUST 21, ARMENPRESS. A landslide occurred in Georgia’s Dariali gorge on August 21. As “Armenpress” reports, Georgian media informs that according to the preliminary information, there are no victims recorded because of landslide. The Deputy Head of Staff of Kazbek City Hall Givi Kirikashvili stated that the landslide occurred at the same place where it was on May 2014. Experts are already working at the spot.

The Spokesperson of Ministry of Emergency Situations of North Ossetia Yulia Starchenko informed that taking into consideration the dangers arising from the landslide, the strategic road in Georgia has been closed for traffic since 22:45 o’clock.  Strachenko also mentioned that Upper Lars checkpoint at Russia- Georgia border is also closed.
