Official Stepanakert attaches importance to Sochi meeting

STEPANAKERT, AUGUST 10, ARMENPRESS. The trilateral meeting held in Sochi is a significant event, as it followed such developments, which raised serious concerns for the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries as well. Karabakh attaches high importance to the fact that the exclusively peaceful resolution was highlighted as the sole solution to the issue. In a conversation with “Armenpress”, Davit Babayan, the Press Spokesman to the President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, stated: “We attach importance to this meeting, because Azerbaijan had never violated the ceasefire regime so violently since signing the ceasefire agreement, as it happened during the recent period.” The Press Spokesman to the President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic finds that the most significant message of the Presidents’ meeting in Sochi was that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict must be regulated peacefully, the necessity of which was stressed by the Russian side as well. “And it’s important that Russia also reiterated it, thus showing that it is interested in the peaceful solution of the conflict. It seems to me that the other Co-Chair countries are also interested in the peaceful solution,” Babayan noted.

Among other things, the Press Spokesman to the President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic underscored: “It’s natural that the peaceful regulation must be on mutual compromises. These must not be unequivocal concessions, as Azerbaijan constantly wants it to be. It’s natural that all of this lets us to expect that the process goes on.”

The trilateral meeting of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was held today in Sochi. The last meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan was held on November 19, 2013 in Vienna.
