YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. The Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan met with the temporary chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Japan to the Republic of Armenia Kenichiro Sasame. The Department of Information and Public Relations of Yerevan Municipality informed “Armenpress” that, welcoming the guests and highlighting the high level Armenian-Japanese relations, Taron Margaryan expressed confidence that the opening of Japanese Embassy in Yerevan at the beginning of next year, will give new quality to bilateral relations and will promote the connections between Yerevan and Tokyo as well as between other cities.

“Today Yerevan collaborates actively with a number of major cities of the world and we are preparing to set cooperation also with Tokyo. I am sure that there are many spheres of mutual interest and according to that, prospects of cooperation can be really mutually beneficial,” emphasized the Mayor and added, that Yerevan municipality is a member of “Mayor for Peace” organization, the head of which is the Mayor of Hiroshima. Taron Margaryan also mentioned that a month ago, “Peace Stone” memorial was brought to the Park next to the Yerevan’s City Hall from Hiroshima, which is another proof that Armenia is ready for cooperation with Japanese cities.
