YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. Singer Sona Rubenyan, who represented Armenia in “New Wave ” international contest of young pop singers this year, returned to her homeland. Our delegate represented Armenia appropriately in the prestigious competition and brought with her love and sympathy of the audience and jury members.

In a conversation with “Armenpress”, Sona Rubenyan stated: “My impressions are very different. During 20 days I have learnt lots of things both as a singer and as a human. It was a great experience for me. During those 20 days I realized how great is the support of my compatriots.”

Sona Rubenyan, who represented Armenia in the New Wave 2014 international song contest for young performers, won the Audience Award. As reports “Armenpress”, the award was handed over to our delegate by "New Wave" jury member Philipp Kirkorov and director of «Twelve Thirteen» jewelry company Farid Asri.

This year 16 contestants from 13 countries took part in the "New Wave" song contest. Georgian representative Nutsa Buzaladze was declared winner of the contest.

Sona performed “Hayastan” song with singer Mher and got 76 points. Sona and Mher dedicated Armen Smbatyan’s song to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Our delegates performed under number 6. All the members of the jury, except Igor Nikolayev who graded 10 points, gave 11 points to Sona and Mher. Members of Jury Philipp Kirkorov, Leonid Ogutin as well as Soso Povliashvili greeted Armenian participants with standing applause. Sona was so excited from performance that she cried on the stage.
