This year wheat harvest to exceed 2013 index: Armenia's Minister of Agriculture assures
11:03, 29 July 2014YEREVAN, JULY 29, ARMENPRESS. The damage of hail in Armenia though is significant, but the annual volume of grain crop will exceed last year’s records. This is due to the increase of sowing areas, as well as the quality of wheat and other grain crops seed. In a conversation with “Armenpress”, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Sergo Karapetyan assured that hail damage will not have a significant effect on the volume and price of grain.
Among other things, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Sergo Karapetyan underscored: “We must take into consideration, that in Armenia more than 15 thousand hectare lands are cultivated, from which 9 thousands are only grain cultures. Damaged harvest won’t have a large effect on this year’s production volumes. It is understandable, that there are losses, but in comparison with last year we will have more harvest.“
