Aygepar "Protective wall" construction to start from August 10

YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. The construction of "Protective wall" in Aygepar will start from August 10, for which AMD 6 million was allocated. This was stated by the Governor of Tavush region Hovik Abovyan, during a conversation with the reporters. "The Red Cross had promised that they would do some partial work, and we are preparing to begin the construction from August 10. AMD 6 million was provided," reports “Armenpress”, citing the Governor, who also noted that the money raised by “Ayo” initiative will not be necessary.

Aygepar is one of the border villages of Tavush region and has a population of 648. The village has a school with 54 pupils and a kindergarten with 25 children. The village is very close to the border with Azerbaijan – with some houses only 100 meters away from the border. The kindergarten and the school buildings are about 700 meters away. The cases of ceasefire violation are common here, Azeris are targeting civilian buildings, in particular, the school and the kindergarten. The school has been damaged several times, with bullets penetrating the building through windows and putting students at risk of being fatally hurt. The playground in front of the school is too dangerous to use because of the gunfire. A 3-meter-high and 70-meter-long wall will protect the school and the kindergarten from bullets and allow the children to study and play safely.
