Jerzy Nowakowski approved as Polish Ambassador to Armenia

YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS. The Polish parliament committee for foreign affairs has approved Jerzy Nowakowski on the post of Poland’s Ambassador to Armenia. As reports “Armenpress” citing Ostkraft, touching upon the priorities of his activity, Nowakowski reminded that Armenia is a member of Eastern Partnership, but at the same time announced about its decision to join the Eurasian Economic Union. According to the newly appointed Ambassador, in the current situation it’s an important political task “not to alienate” Armenia from the European prospects.

According to the diplomat, in the near future, the Warsaw-Yerevan activities should focus on the year of 2015, when “the 100th anniversary of the massacres of the Armenians in Turkey will be marked”.

Responding the questions of the MPs regarding the Nagorno Karabakh settlement, the diplomat stated that closer partnership with the EU, as well as Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s EaP membership can contribute to the solution of the issue.
