YEREVAN, JULY 23, ARMENPRESS: An interesting tendency is observed in the statistics of vehicle imports: mostly cheaper cars are now being imported to Armenia. If in the pre-crisis years vehicles mostly worth of 5-10 thousand dollars were imported to Armenia, the cars up to 5 thousand dollars prevail now. As reports "Armenpress", 15710 cars out of 25092 imported to Armenia in the first half of 2014, have a customs value up to 5000 dollars. The number of the cars worth 5-10 thousand dollars is 5838 and 1442 cars cost 10-15 thousand dollars. The number of more expensive cars, 15-30 thousand dollars, imported to Armenia is 1442, and the cars worth more than 30 thousand dollars are only 660.

According to the statistics released by the Customs Service of the Republic of Armenia, the volume of the cars imported to Armenia in the first half of 2014 grew by almost 40.7%, amounting to 25 thousand 92 cars. For the imported cars the Customs authorities charged about 24 million 987 thousand AMD. 437 imported cars have been of Russian production, for which the customs authorities have charged about 693 million drams.

As compared with the first half of the previous year the imports of Russian cars have decreased by 29.4 percent.

The global financial and economic crisis of 2009 caused a sharp decrease in the number of imported cars in Armenian, making 17 thousand 269 cars. Vehicle imports increased in volume during 2009-2013 years. Vehicle import volume has already reached the pre-crisis indicators.
