Renaissance of Armenian harp. Martin Yeritsyan

YEREVAN, JULY 22, ARMENPRESS. Many of us are familiar with such Armenian folk musical instruments as kyamancha, duduk and  dhol, but  the family of Armenian traditional musical instruments is much richer. For instance, in ancient times was often used harp, which  number of strings, on assumption were 10, but today its number became 46. Stringed musical instrument maker, professor in Conservatory named after Komitas Martin Yeritsyan, two years ago in order prepared harp, which is only one example and now sounds in Armenian traditional music ensemble. Opening the book of Armenian folk songs, the journalist of “Armenpress” met with Martin Yeritsyan.

-How long have you been preparing stringed instruments?

-My father in 1925 from Greece, where he had appeared escaping from the Genocide, moved to Armenia and started to create stringed instruments. Thanks to its high –quality, today his instruments are highly appreciated by musicians. In my childhood I met talented violinists, cellists and in my second year in Conservatory I decided to prepare stringed instruments myself.
