Among CIS countries Armenia offers cheapest food of animal origin

YEREVAN, JULY 4, ARMENPRESS. The volumes of the products of animal origin produced in Armenian, as compared to the last year's production, in the current year will increase by about 7 percent. This was said by the Head of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture Ashot Hovhannisyan, on July 4, at a press conference.

"It should be noted that in the recent years we observe a tendency of rapid rise of agricultural livestock, and the steady increase in production volumes of animal products is due to this," said Ashot Hovhannisyan.

He assured that among the CIS countries Armenia occupies a high position within three consecutive years in livestock growth rate. "Armenia is in the first or second position among the CIS countries for the cheapness of its food of animal origin. For the beef prices per 1 kiliogram Armenia yields only to Belarus, and the lowest prices for cheese are to be found in Armenia" – as reports “Armenpress”, said the official, stressing that the current veterinary trends allow to predict in the near future a sustainable and long-term growth in production volumes of food of animal origin.
