OECD worked out proposals to internationalize Armenia's agribusiness and construction
sector

YEREVAN, JUNE 19, ARMENPRESS. In order to develop small and medium enterprises in Armenia’s agribusiness and construction sectors the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) offers to carry out internationalization programs of the sectors. During his meeting with the journalists, First Deputy Minister of Economy Garegin Melkonyan informed that the offers worked out by the OECD will be presented at the annual sitting of the organization in November, and after the approval, the implementation phase will begin. "This program is aimed at increasing the economic competitiveness and sectoral reforms. In the frames of the program two sectors were chosen – agribusiness and industry of construction materials, for the development of which, the organization has presented initial proposals. The first phase of the discussion of the proposals has already been conducted, and their final specification is scheduled for the upcoming sitting by the end of the year" – reports “Armenpress”, citing Melkonyan.

Head of the OECD Eurasia Competitiveness Programme Antonio Somma noted that for the internationalization of the SMEs engaged in agribusiness, it was suggested to expand the knowledge of the businessmen about the international markets and quality requirements, optimize the commercial infrastructures and to assist the entrepreneurs for export. "And for the development of the construction sector we suggest to improve the application of the regulations on the requirements of energy efficiency, regulate the procedures for obtaining construction permits, promote the foreign direct investments, including the investments of the diaspora” – said Somma.
