YEREVAN, JUNE 4, ARMENPRESS.  Today, in the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Armenia the official welcoming ceremony of Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), President of the Swiss Confederation and Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter was held, which was followed by Serzh Sargsyan and Didier Burkhalter’s narrow-format negotiations. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the President’s Staff, Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the high-ranking guest in our country and stressed that this meeting is special for the Armenian side, as our country hosts a friend and a reliable partner – the President of the Swiss Confederation, and at the same time the Chairperson-in-Office of an organization, which for many years has been dealing with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict that has a vital significance for Armenia. "Today we will discuss with great pleasure and willingness both the agenda of our bilateral relations, and the various aspects of our cooperation within the framework of the OSCE. Of course, I am glad, that today you will also meet with the President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, and this is a very good opportunity for you to meet with all the parties of the conflict and to hear their opinions. Welcome to Armenia” – said Serzh Sargsyan during his meeting with Didier Burkhalter.

Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), President of the Swiss Confederation and Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and noted that he is happy to be in Armenia after visiting the two previous countries of the region. "As you mentioned, Mr. President, to solve the complex problems it is necessary to establish a dialogue with all the parties of the conflict, and that is exactly what Switzerland would like, to discuss and negotiate, so that solutions for the problems of the conflicts are found. I am very grateful that you prepared two flags, and it reminds us that we have two responsibilities here, and it reminds us of the work that we carry out” – said Didier Burkhalter.

Serzh Sargsyan and Didier Burkhalter’s bilateral negotiations were followed by the broadened meeting of the official delegations.
