Exhibition-sale devoted to Arshile Gorky opens in Russian Art Museum

YEREVAN, MAY 14, ARMENPRESS. Exhibition-sale entitled “Tragic light colors” opened in the Russian Art Museum devoted to the birth anniversary of the renowned Armenian artist Arshile Gorky. The proceeds from the sale will be directed to the construction of “New Aleppo” district of the Syrian-Armenians. Armenpress reports that according to the Minister of Diaspora by his nature, works of art Arshile Gorky is considered to be the symbol of the Armenian Genocide in painting. “Like Komitas in music, Siamanto, Varuzhan in the poetic art, Arshile Gorky   is the symbol of the Armenian Genocide. Though he survived it, his nature, sufferings had the influence of genocide consequences. The reason of creating for Gorky is his outburst, eruption in form of the dabs that he introduced to the world. Today Arshile Gorky is regarded as one of the painters who left trail not only in the Armenian painting, but in the world history. His works should be introduced not only in Armenia, in different parts of the world, but in the greatest museums, especially at the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide introducing that part of the Armenian people to the world,” Hranush Hakobyan said. She noted with joy about the existence of “Arshile Gorky” art school.
