YEREVAN, MAY 14, ARMENPRESS. In partnership with the United States Embassy in Yerevan, Tumo announced the start of the Unlimited Hip Hop competition being held in the framework of the Sea2Sea regional street dancing project. Tumo informed “Armenpress” that Soul Street Dance, a group of four dancers from the United States, will visit Armenia to judge the dance competitions and hold master classes and informal meet-ups with the local hip hop dance community and Tumo students.

Armenian citizens between the ages of 16 and 26 who love hip hop dancing (breakin’, poppin’, lockin’, or any other style) can apply to take part in the competition.

Auditions will take place on May 23 in Yerevan, and on May 24 in Vayk and Charentsavan. During the auditions, applicants will compete with each other in hip hop style. The jury will choose the best dancers from the three cities who will be invited to Yerevan to participate in a number of master classes offered by Soul Street Dance and prepare for a gala performance at the Tumo Plaza on May 28. The final event will feature a musical performance by a group of Tumo students who have previously participated in the hip hop music composing workshop. The students will use the Abelton platform, iPads and a DJ deck to perform live at the event.

The final performance will sum up the competition by selecting a group of local dancers who will travel to Batumi Georgia as youth ambassadors to perform in a collaborative dance with their regional counterparts.
