For first time in Gyumri’s history Armenian-Russian troops held joint parade
GYUMRI, MAY 9, ARMENPRESS. For the first time in the history of Gyumri on May 9, 2014, the Armenian-Russian troops held a joint military parade. The military units of the Armenian Armed Forces of Shirak region and the military units of the 102nd military base of Armenia’s military ally Russian Armed Forces based in Gyumri took part in the parade dedicated to the 69th anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War.
The entry of the victory flag in Gyumri’s “Vardanats” square heralded the start of the joint parade. The commander of the parade was the Chief of Staff of Russia's 102nd military base, Colonel Aleksey Avdeev, and the parade was received by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the joint Armenian-Russian Armed Forces Col. David Aghajanian Before the military march, General Michael Grigoryan – the commander of the Armenian-Russian joint military units was welcomed by everyone.
