Armenia’s President thanked CSTO sates for position on Kessab

YEREVAN, MAY 8, ARMENPRESS. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan delivered a speech at the non-formal meeting with the Presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held in Moscow, thanked the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization for their position on the issue of the Syrian Kessab – a majority Armenian town, which was expressed in the April 3, 2014, joint statement of the CSTO Foreign Ministers.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the President's Office, in his speech Serzh Sargsyan reminded that at the session of the Collective Security Council in Sochi the situation in Syria was discussed in detail. The possible scenarios for the development of the situation in Afghanistan, in general, and the Middle East, particularly in Syria were discussed. "Now, that all has a more pronounced character.  I mean the pre-planned operation from outside against the civilians of Kessab" - noted the President.

Addressing the Russian President Vladimir Putin, Serzh Sargsyan emphasized the position of Russia, which being a permanent member of the UN Security Council, is actively working on different levels for the regulation of the Syrian crisis, and the Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly made ​​statements  supporting the Kessab-Armenians.
