Schiff hopes adoption of resolution by Senator Menendez to contribute to “Armenian Genocide Truth and Justice” resolution
GLENDALE, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff hopes that the adoption of the resolution on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will also have a positive effect on his proposed “Armenian Genocide Truth and Justice” resolution. As reports “Armenpress”, the congressman told about this to the Glendale News-Press newspaper. "The Senate's actions affect the House of Representatives ... only time will tell” - said Schiff.
Still last year, U.S. Congressmen Adam Schiff, David Valadao, Michael Grimm and Frank Pallone introduced to the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives a new document on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide which calls on the Obama administration to reaffirm the fact of the recognition of the first genocide of the 20th century, which was done earlier by the U.S.A. The resolution raises the Wilson administration's statements on the Armenian Genocide.
On April 2014, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by 12-5 votes approved the resolution 410 on recognizing the Armenian Genocide introduced by the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Robert Menendez and Senator Mark Kirk. The newspaper expressed the hope that the Senate Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid will bring it up to the Senate's agenda by the end of this session.
