Obama’s statement on 1915-1923 events will be strong: U.S. Ambassador

YEREVAN, APRIL 24, ARMENPRESS. The representatives of the U.S. executive and legislative bodies, as well as the members of the American-Armenian community, who arrived in Armenia on the Memorial Day of the Armenian Genocide, paid tribute to the memory of the 1.5 million Armenian victims at Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex.

As reports “Armenpress”, on April 24, this was stated by the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern: "I am here on behalf of President Obama and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to pay tribute to the victims of the tragic events of 1915. It is a great honor for me to be here today with the delegation of House Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the U.S.A.  In a couple of hours President Obama will deliver a statement on Remembrance Day. I am sure that he will condemn the events that took place in the last years of the Ottoman Empire as one of the most terrible crimes of the 20th century. The President’s statement will be strong, where the facts of the events occurred in 1915-1923 will be admitted" – noted the U.S. Ambassador.
