Defense Minister of Lithuania pays tribute to victims of Armenian Genocide
YEREVAN, APRIL 23, ARMENPRESS. The Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Olekas on his visit to the Republic of Armenia has with the accompanying delegation paid a visit to the Memorial of the Victims of the Armenian Genocide. The Lithuanian National Defence Minister laid a wreath at the monument to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Then, Juozas Olekas and his accompanying delegation laid flowers at the Eternal Fire and honored the memory of the innocent victims with a minute of silence.
As reports “Armenpress”, the members of the Lithuanian delegation followed by the head of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute – Hayk Demoyan visited the new building of the museum, where the Lithuanian delegation got acquainted with the recently opened exhibition entitled "The First World War: Allies, Characters, Massacres". The exhibition is devoted to the 100th anniversary of the First World War.
In 2005, on December 15, the Lithuanian Seimas (Parliament) passed a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide, which calls on Turkey to recognize and accept the historical fact.
