YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS. “Bestseller Books List” introduced by “Armenpress” News Agency proves that the valuable literary works enjoy the admiration of the Armenian readers. According to the agency “The Book of Whispers” novel by Varujan Vosganian, who was introduced for Nobel Prize, and “Stone Dreams” by Azerbaijani author Akram Aylisli have been declared the bestseller books of the year.

The Director of “Armenpress” News Agency Aram Ananyan underscored: “We launched the project one year ago. ‘Bestseller Books List’ targets the promotion of the Armenian book, literature, and reading. The idea came to us one year ago and it has already been one year since we are successfully realizing the program. Those, who dedicate their lives to books, deserve much higher appreciation and encouragement. This day has not been chosen accidentally. We tried to combine the book donation day with the Day of Mother Tongue.”

The Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Armenia Edward Militonyan noted: “If we present books to each other, then the books sales volume will be increased, they will become bestsellers, and the people will make the best gift to each other – book. The idea itself is very good.”

Varujan Vosganian was declared “The Contemporary Armenian Author” with his novel “The Book of Whispers”. The certificate was handed over to the Consul of Romania to the Republic of Armenia Dragos Zamfirescu for the author. Varujan Vosganian will receive the certificate due to the efforts of the Embassy of Romania to the Republic of Armenia.

“Stone Dreams” by Azerbaijani author Akram Aylisli was declared “Foreign Bestseller of the Year”. All the three publications of the novel have always been included in the Bestseller Books List. Aram Ananyan asked the Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Armenia to use his contacts to hand the certificate over to Akram Aylisli via “Druzhba Narodov” magazine, which published the work.

Hovhannes Ayvazyan authored “The Most Demanded Translation of the Year” by introducing the Armenian version of "Memories of My Melancholy Whores" by Columbian writer Gabriel García Márquez. “Antares” Publishing House was declared “Bestsellers’ Publisher of the Year”. The books published by “Antares” have always been included in the Bestseller Books List for all 56 weeks. "The Class of Armenian Language" by the former Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Armenia Levon Ananyan, of holy memory, was declared “Armenian Language Children’s Book of the Year”. “Masha and the Bear: the First Meeting” published by “Bukinist” Publishing House was declared “The Most Demanded Children’s Interpretive Book”.
