Azerbaijan sends protest note to Latvia

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 20, ARMENPRESS: The official Baku again runs the hysteria over the presentation of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in Latvian textbooks. The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Latvia has handed a note to Latvia on this occasion. Armenpress reports, citing the Azerbaijani APA news agency that the representative of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Latvia said that in this regard, representatives of the embassies of GUAM member states in Latvia held a meeting on February 19. Moreover, at the Latvian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Elman Zeynalov expressed his concern over the mistakes made in the textbook and handed a note.
The advisor also added that the investigation carried out in this regard found out that this textbook is not used at secondary schools.
Earlier it was reported that the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and South Ossetia were presented as independent states in the textbook, intended for the medium classes of the secondary schools of Latvia, “New world geography”, published in 2013. The fact has angered the Azerbaijani residents of Latvia, who sent the copy of the textbook to Azerbaijan to raise a noise on that occasion. The Azerbaijani media expressed hope that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country and the Embassy of Azerbaijan will respond to the issue.
