YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7, ARMENPRESS: Opening ceremony of the XXII Winter Olympic Games launched at the “Fisht” Olympic Stadium in Sochi.

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will open the ceremony. Well-known opera singer Anna Netrebko will perform the Olympic Anthem.

“Armenpress” reports that the Olympic Games have not launched yet, but have already managed to set a record. No country has received leaders from so many states and Governments at the course of the history of Winter Games. Leaders of 50 states and Governments have visited Sochi. It is more than the number of guests of the former Winter Games of Turin and Vancouver together.

The participation of Armenia in Sochi Winter Olympic Games is modest. Sergey Mikayelyan, Artur Yeghoyan, Katya Galstyan and Arman Serberakyan represent the Armenian team. 98 complete sets of 15 sports medals will be drawn in Sochi Winter Olympic Games. The closing ceremony of the games will take place on February 23.
