Few hours remain to launch of Junior Eurovision 2013

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. Junior Eurovision 2013 held under the slogan Be Creative will kick off in few hours in the the National Palace of Arts "Ukraine" on November 30. Monika Avanesyan representing Armenia with her song titled “Choco Factory” will perform the third at Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013. Armenia’s delegate will introduce her song to the audience after Sweden and Azerbaijan.

Armenia has won the contest once, back in 2010 when Vladimir Arzumanyan’s Mama took the trophy home from Minsk, Belarus. Our country hosted the contest in 2011 in Yerevan.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013 will be the 11th annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It will take place in Kiev, Ukraine on 30 November 2013. The venue for the contest was announced on 10 April 2013, as the Palace "Ukraine". Ukrainian broadcaster NTU will be the host broadcaster for the event. This is the second time the contest will be held in Kiev, the first being the 2009 Contest. It will also be the second time in the history of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest that the event will be held in last year's winning country, as well as the first time that the event is held in the same city twice. Twelve countries have confirmed their participation, with Macedonia and Malta announcing their return, and Albania, Belgium and Israel choosing to withdraw. San Marino make their debut in the contest. Cyprus was the thirteenth country to take part but pulled out the last minute. The draw to determine the performance running order took place on 25 November 2013.

On 17 April 2013, the Ukrainian national broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced that the venue for the 2013 contest will take place in the Palace "Ukraine", in Kiev. The venue which is also known as the National Palace of Arts "Ukraine", which is a state company administered by the State Directory of Affairs, is one of the main venues for official events along with Palace of Sports in Kiev, Ukraine.

The executive supervisor of the Junior Eurovision steering group, Vladislav Yakovlev, announced on 17 July 2013 that there would be some changes being introduced to the contest from 2013 onwards. The contest would no longer focus on just the winning entry, but will also reward prizes to the top three entries in acknowledgement of the talents of the young performers. It was also announced that the winner of Junior Eurovision 2013 would be in Eurovision 2014, however the role that they will play has not been revealed. On 7 October 2013, it was announced that the executive supervisor managed to maintain the participation of thirteen countries for the contest in Kiev, Ukraine. The name of the thirteenth country was expected to be announced by the European Broadcasting Union on 29 October 2013. It was later confirmed on 1 November 2013 that Cyprus were going to be the thirteenth country but withdrew at the last minute. The running order draw took place on 25 November 2013 during the contest's opening party.
