YEREVAN, AUGUST 15, ARMENPRESS: The song list of the nine-year-old Armenian representative of the New Wave Junior 2013 Elina Cholakhyan has been approved. As the Armenpress correspondent was reported by the member of the Armenian delegation Syuzi Shakhbazyan from Crimea, on the first day of the Contest Elina will perform the song “Hurt” of the US singer Christina Aguilera as an international hit and on the second day our delegate will present the song “Return” by Varduhi Vardanyan.

The representative of the Armenian delegation noted that the preliminary works of the Contest are being held successfully and our delegate does not spare efforts to represent Armenia well.

On August 7 the Armenian representative of the New Wave Junior 2013 left for Simferopol. The nine-year-old Elina Cholakhyan from Yerevan is studying at the secondary school named after Chekhov, music school named after Sayat-Nova (Department of piano and vocal), as well as in the music studio "Astxikner." In 2012, she took part in major piano competitions (Yerevan, fourth place and People's Choice Award). In 2013 she was participation in the "Renaissance" contest (Gyumri, Grand Prix, 2013). She is the winner of the national TV project "Astxikner". In her spare time she is singing, reading books, playing the piano, drawing and riding her scooter. Since the age of four she engaged swimming and dancing.

The Black Sea coast will be brightly lit up under the stars like never before, and apart from this year's contestants the stage of the central stadium "Artek" will host the winners of the New Wave Junior of past years as well as the established stars of the Russian and Ukrainian stage such as Irina Allegrova, Boris Moiseev, the A-Studio, Potap and Nastya, Dominick Jocker, Ivan Dorn, the VIA GRA, Polina Gagarina, Yuliya Savicheva, Dima Bilan.

The contestants will be judged by the talented jury including Igor Krutoy, Konstantin Meladze, Lev Leschenko, Alsu, Irina Dubtsova, Ani Lorak, Aleksey Ryzhov, Vera Brezhneva, Vlad Sokolovsky. In addition, press service of the President of Ukraine reported that Viktor Yanukovich will attend on August 15th the jubilee contest for young musicians.

In 2008 "ARS" holding company carried out the First International contest of young singers of popular music "New Wave Junior". The contest was a great success, in 2009 the Organizing Committee of the contest received more than 4,000 applications from over 20 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Belarus, Georgia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, the USA, Tajikistan, Ukraine and others. There were two categories, where the contestants competed: from 8 to 12 years and from 13 to 15 years.

In 2008-2009 New Wave Junior was carried in Moscow "Cosmos". In April 2010 a Memorandum of holding the contest under the patronage of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich at the International Children's Center "Artek" was signed. In 2011 the Organizing Committee of the contest decided to change age category of the participants, that is, from 8 to 13 years. In 2012 New Wave Junior celebrated its fifth birthday.

Every year, more than 7,000 children and adults from around the world come to the International Children's Center "Artek" to the contest New Wave Junior. The International contest of young singers of popular music New Wave Junior has an extensive regional program. Selection rounds are held in all the federal districts of Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Estonia, Finland, China and many other regions.

The broadcast right in Armenia belongs to the Armenia TV Company. The Contest will be attended by the representatives of 16 countries.
