Public Council member did not exclude drop in price for tickets in case of having 3 national air carriers

YEREVAN, JUNE 18, ARMENPRESS: The terms of the liberalization of air transportation sector could encourage the entrance of three national air carriers into the Armenian market. This was stated by the member of the Subcommittee on Aviation of the Public Council Levon Ghazaryan at the press conference held on June 18.
Concerning the potential companies, which can submit applications for the tender to be announced to choose a national carrier, Levon Ghazaryan mentioned only Utair Armenia and Air Armenia. The member of the Subcommittee on Aviation of the Public Council considers possible the submission of applications by foreign companies as well.
The entrance of the national air carriers to the Armenian market can be profitable for the common passenger for the drop of price for the tickets and increase of the allowed baggage weight.
Armavia Air Company announced about its bankruptcy and has stopped implementing its flights since April 1 2013. Armavia still continues the compensation process for the tickets of the unimplemented flights. The Company has not yet submitted the necessary bankruptcy documents to the Court. Instead the Company suggested a recovery plan to the Public Council. The later has already applied to the Government of the Republic of Armenia with the suggestions concerning the future of the civil aviation.
