Artem Asatryan: New disability rights protection bill to solve education and working issues

YEREVAN, APRIL 2, ARMENPRESS: By the initiative of the Social Commission of the National Assembly, parliamentary hearings on the bill of the Republic of Armenia on “Disability rights protection and social integrity” were held on April 2.According to Armenpress, the Minister of Labor and Social Issues Artem Asatryan stated that the adoption of the bill would enable to apply the new approaches to implement the protection of the rights of the disabled people.

“It has been already for twenty years that the law on protection of the rights of the disabled has functioned in Armenia. The new bill will be the start for improvements. It is quite important for us to integrate the disabled in the society, as they are one of us and should have the same rights, as the others”, - stated Artem Asatryan.

The bill suggests passing on to a new model. “We will solve the education issues for the disabled children under 18 and the employment issues for the elders”, - emphasized the Minister.

The Chair of the Standing Committee on Healthcare, Maternity and Childhood of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan stated that from the point of view of the health care, the key objective should be the prevention of disability and integration by all recovery measures.
