NA signed memorandum on security with Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS: NA Standing Committee on Defence, National Security and Internal Affairs and Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces signed a memorandum of mutual understanding aimed to ensure the efficiency of Democratic control of the security sector. Memorandum was signed by Chairman of NA standing committee Koryun Nahapetyan and Deputy Director DCAF Philipp Fluri.
Armenpress reports that sides will cooperate to improve the efficiency of legal processes in different spheres of the committee, to develop and implement procedures of civilian control of the armed forces, as well as to carry out some research works in various institutions of force structures.
An advisory group will be formed attached to the committee which will provide it with legal consultations and recommendations which will be connected with issues of committee.
Chairman of NA Standing Committee on Defence, National Security and Internal Affairs Koryun Nahapetyan assured that memorandum would become a firm legal basis for efficient cooperation of the sides and would ensure long-lasting interaction in democratic control of the security sector.
