USA supports the suspension and disclosing of anti-competitive activity in Armenia

YEREVAN, JUNE 14, ARMENPRESS: The U.S. Agency for International Development launched a five-year program, which is aimed at provision of sustainable economic growth. The target areas of the project are the followings: high technology, tourism, fruit and vegetables processing and pharmacology. Armenpress reports that, John Heffern, the US Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia during the press conference on June 14th mentioned, that the main activity is directed toward the illumination of competitive sector issues. “4 target areas of this project, which is worth to 17 million U.S. dollars, have not been just chosen: We think, that a huge potential and prospects for enterprise and competitiveness can be found in that fields ”- said Heffern. The chair of State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia Artak Shaboyan mentioned that a fair competitive environment is too vital not only from the view of economic growth and high-level prosperity, but also from the provision of international competitiveness and consumer protection view. He called to apply for to the Commision in case of any anti-competitive problems. The aim of “Competitive issues, Analysis and Solutions” conference is to transfer the knowledge and best practice , which exist in the revealing of anti-competitive process and preventing field, to the companies, acting in the 4 areas of the USAID EDMC project.
