Armenia-Frontex cooperation to promote upgrading of Armenia’s border infrastructures

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS: Secretary of Armenian National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan received Ilkka Laitinen, executive director of Frontex - European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union. Press office of the NSC told Armenpress that the parties discussed the recent developments in the process of modernization of border infrastructures in Armenia. In this context, Arthur Baghdasaryan rated high the usage of the potential of the agency and its experience in Armenia.
The NSC secretary expressed conviction that cooperation between Armenia and Frontex will promote the process of upgrading of infrastructures and ensure security of EU's external borders.
Ilkka Laitinen noted that after the visit of the delegation headed by the Secretary of NSC to Poland the process of establishment of cooperation launched which will be fixed in the working contract between Armenia's NSC and Frontex on February 22.
Mr Laitinen hailed the strategy of complex management of Armenian state borders and pointed out that Armenia is one of the few countries which managed with its strategy to combine different establishments engaged in the border management sphere.
Events to be implemented after signing of the agreement and prospects of implementation of new initiatives were discussed.
