President of Armenia receives Frontex executive director

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS: President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received today Ilkka Laitinen, executive director of Frontex - European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union. President's press office reported that the interlocutors rated high the development of Armenia-EU cooperation, the agenda of which involves new spheres from year to year.

The president stressed that this year Armenia will start modernization of infrastructures, upgrading of equipment and training of personnel. Serzh Sargsyan voiced hope that the works will be successfully accomplished in collaboration with Frontex.

Ilkka Laitinen said the agreement to be signed with the Armenian National Security Council will be beneficial for all parties – Armenia, the Frontex and the EU countries.
